Pete’s Wood View

A redundant 1970’s timber clad chicken shed overlooks a burgeoning young woodland known as Pete’s Wood. The siting of the shed presents an opportunity for the clients to retire and live in beautiful surroundings. 

The brief is to provide a wheelchair accessible, energy efficient dwelling, that can serve as a home for life with a small residential annexe for a live-in carer. The proposals draw on the long, narrow form and agricultural materials of the existing chicken shed. The dwelling will be arranged as a string of rooms, making the most of views of the far reaching southern aspect. Constructed with high levels of insulation and renewable energy systems, it is expected that there will be minimal running costs.
